RICHARD ‘DICK’ MCLEAN WILLIAMS Obituary
Richard "Dick" McLean Williams, Sr., of Wilmington, died Saturday, March 15, 2008, at home.
He was born February 13, 1921 in Onslow County NC, son of the late Adrian Williams Sr. and Queenie Hobbs Williams and was preceded in death by his first wife Helen Watson Williams and his son Richard McLean "Mac" Williams Jr.
Dick Williams served in the Navy during World War II. He later began a service station enterprise with his brother Adrian in the 40's and moved on to a successful entrepreneurship in service stations and car sales DBA D&P Amoco and Motor Sales and was later owner of a maritime security services company.
He was a very special man with a unique sense of humor and very much loved by family and friends. He was also a very compassionate and generous man. He never failed to help anyone in need. We shall all miss him and he will forever live in our hearts.
Surviving is his wife Dorothea Dyke Williams, brother, Lonnie. B. Williams Sr., three sons, Jeffrey Dale Williams, Sr. and wife Ann, Dewey Kent Williams and wife Shirley, all of Wilmington, and Raymond Boyd Williams Sr. of New Orleans, daughter-in-law Patricia Farrow Williams, stepson Billy Graham, both of Wilmington, grandchildren, Richard McLean Williams III and wife Toni of Wilmington, Helen Williams Smith and husband Larry of Wilmington, Jeffrey Dale Williams Jr. and wife Donna of Charlotte, Donna Williams Bradley of Wilmington, Gregory "Kent" Williams and wife Randi of Wilmington, Connie Williams Lackovic and husband Michael of Kernersville NC, Jonathan "Ricky" Richard Williams Sr. and wife Jennifer of Wilmington, Rhonda Williams Blackburn of Wilmington, Leigh Williams Bettenhausen and husband Kevin of Wilmington, Raymond Boyd Williams Jr. of Houston, TX., Mathew McLean Williams of Wilmington, great-grandchildren, Kenneth McLean Williams, Lauren Victoria Smith, Hannah Elizabeth Smith, Kayla Rae Williams, Kolby Dale Williams, John Albert Kincaid, Alison Louise Bradley, Richard "Kyle" Bradley, Marissa Ann Williams, Garian "Jade" Creasman and husband Cameron, Michael "Hunter" Lackovic, Forrest Wayne Lackovic, Jonathan Richard Williams Jr, Jamison Mayes Williams, Adrian Taylor Blackburn, Sydney Leigh Blackburn, Morgan McLean Bettenhausen, Raymond Tolenoa Williams, Kennedy Eugene Williams, Anita Katherine Williams, Sepe Helen Williams and Mioshi Matthew Williams, great-great-grandchild, Jaxon Lee Creasman.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at Oleander Memorial Gardens by Rev. Gene Ridley and Rev. Donald Pope.
The family will receive friends from 7pm to 8pm Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel and at other times at 111 Pine Cone Road.
