Wally, Don, and family - My fondest memories are of growing up on Thomas Ave. From birth until some time in Grade School, your family lived across the street from mine. Your Mom and Dad were very patient w/my three sisters and me as we rode our tricycles, and then bicycles, up and down their driveway about a million miles. Y'all had the only "hill" on the block! Every kid on the street used to stay out past dark in the summer w/o a care in the world. Thomas Ave. was just about the best place in the world to live and grow up. In going through some recent photographs at Mom's I found a picture of your Mom passing out candy to us on Halloween. She was smiling and looked great. Your Mom and Dad always spoke kindly to us, and kind words are never forgotten. Having recently had my Mom go away too, I know how you are feeling. I am unable to offer any words to help, as there are none, but please know that you are in my thoughts and on my prayer list. Kimrey Armstrong Hilton

Virginia West helped me get my first job in Wilmington. She was a real mentor to me and I love her dearly. I remember her and Wallace's two grand daughters coming into the office and she would light up. So would I. She talked about her family a lot. My sincere sympathy to all the family.

Don,
Many years ago, I lived across the street on Thomas Ave. from you and your wonderful parents. I have many fond memories of those days and the friendship that we shared. I often wondered how you and your family were doing. My Dad and my stepmother still live in Wilmington and my husband and I visit often. I just want you and Wally to know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your entire family during this difficult time

Our sincere condolences go out to Wally and Don, and to all of the West family.
From the day i was born until i was 16 the West family was our next door neighbor, and just like family to me.
Don and Wally are the brothers that i never had. In our neighborhood the back doors were always open to all children playing , and all of the mothers were called our "aunt" , and all the children felt safe because of them.
We all miss the old days, but hopefully we never forget the lessons learned.
Virginia West taught me many valuable lessons, but most of all she showed me how to care for those who are not as fortunate as we were.
She was a loving and caring person, and i will miss her.

Don, Wally and Family,
We were privileged to know Virginia and Wallace in Lionism and spent many good times with them during those years here in Wilmington. We are so sorry that they are not with us any longer, but their memory and good deeds will long be remembered.

You are in our Prayers at this time.
There are so many pleasant memories to cling to even though these past few years have been so hard on you.Don, you told me so much about your mom I felt I knew her.
Will never forget our Prayers during our hunts.
May God Bless you in this time of loss.
Now we have your mom and Dad sending us good fortunes from Heaven when we hunt.

Dear Don, Wally, and families,
Aunt Virginia will always be missed in this world but know she is joyous to be reunited with Uncle Wallace and others who have gone before her. I know the past several years have been hard on you seeing her love of life being stolen from her; but, we rejoice in her life that we knew, holding our memories of her close to our hearts. Much love and prayers for you all in this time. We will forever miss her great Christmas news letters. However, we know where she is and rejoice in the fact that she is with Jesus now. Mom sends her love to you all and she would be there if she could; but, travelling is not possible for her anymore.
