John "Jack" Feliksiak

John R. "Jack" Feliksiak, 80, of Peru, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2024 at Manor Court of Peru with his wife by his side.

A private memorial service will be held at Senica's Oak Ridge Golf Club, LaSalle with Pastor Sherry Stevenson of Crossbridge Community Church, Ottawa officiating. Private burial will take place in Peru City Cemetery. Public visitation will be held 11:00 AM-2:00 PM on Sunday, July 21, 2024 at Senica's Oak Ridge, LaSalle. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mueller Funeral Home, Peru.

Jack was born July 29, 1943 at St. Mary's Hospital in LaSalle to Alvin and Eleanor (Newton) Feliksiak. He graduated from LaSalle-Peru Township High School with the Class of 1961. Jack graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University with the Class of 1965 with a Bachelors Degree in Music Education. He went on to the University of Illinois and obtained a Masters Degree in Music Education. Jack married Callie Callahan Struna on May 27, 2004 at the Oak Ridge Golf Course in LaSalle.

Jack taught Music and P.E. at Washington Junior High School in Peru for 29 years. He was also the Superintendent at Oak Ridge Golf Course in LaSalle for 31 years. Jack was a member at Crossbridge Community Church in Ottawa, Elks in LaSalle and Oglesby, Knights of Columbus in LaSalle, Eagles in Peru, Music Educators, Illinois Retired Teachers Association, United States Golf Association, and the Northwestern Golf Superintendents Association. He was an avid golfer and was proud to have had 23 holes-in-one. He also held the record for nine holes at Spring Creek Golf Course, with a score of 29 and won the NewsTribune Golf Tournament in 1979.

Together, Jack and Callie, would go up to Coachman's Golf Resort in Edgerton, Wisconsin several times a year. They would spend the weekends golfing 36 holes a day and enjoying their time together while meeting new friends along the way.

Survivors include his wife, Callie; three step-children, James (Kim) Struna of Fairfax, VA, Mandy (Brian) Lester of Peru, and Emily (Lucas) Meyer of Chesterfield, MO; and seven step-grandchildren, Shay and Zara Struna, Carter and Kenna Lester, Autumn and Camden Meyer, and Paris Caldwell.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Because he brought so much joy to others through his music, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family for the Jack Feliksiak Music Scholarship to be established at LaSalle-Peru Township High School.
