Allan Asseo Obituary

Allan Ira Asseo Allan Ira Asseo passed away on July 9, 2012 at his home in Austin, Texas. Allan was born August 22, 1946 in the Bronx, New York City. His parents, Esther Hazan Asseo and Joseph Asseo, preceded him in death. Survivors include his cousin Stella and her husband Dr. Bill Liebesman of Westfield, New Jersey and Dr. Jacques Fresco and his wife Rosalie of Princeton, New Jersey. He is also survived by special friend and dance partner, Dr. Flora de Hart, and his loving companion, Bruiser Asseo, his feisty Pomeranian, of Austin. Allan spent several years in NYPD before becoming involved in the textile industry in Mexico City. After leaving Mexico, he was in automobile sales in Houston and Austin, Texas. Allan's favorite pastimes included travel, tennis, chess, flying small planes and dancing (especially the Texas two-step). Unfortunately, he had to give up many of these activities as his diabetes progressed. Recently, Allan made the comment that he would like to leave the world a little better than he found it. He has been a supporter of Seton Family of Hospitals and St. Edward's University which he believed are making the world a better place. Donations in Allan's memory may be made to Seton Family of Hospitals in Austin or the Scholarship Fund at St. Edward's University.

As an old friend from the Bronx, I want to say how saddened I was learn of Allan's passing. He was a classmate and street friend in the early 1960's. Part of Izzy's corner crowd on 166th and McClellan. RIP old pal.

Allan, you were a great neighbor for 14 years. You were always so friendly. My son especially is grieved because he used to go outside and yell, at age 3, "Hello Neighbor!" and you always waved to him. Rest in peace friend. The Cook family

Big Al probably had the most interesting life of any one that I know. He was smart, funny and knew how to have fun and treat people right. He was good at many things and always made a lasting impression on everyone that he met. He worked all of his life until his elderly step father needed to be taken care of, which he did 24/7 until his step father passed away.

He was at the point in his life when he didn't have to work so hard and could enjoy life, he met Flora, they were a wonderful couple that danced, dined and traveled, he bought a home and also began learning to fly, it's so sad that this is when his health problems began and eventually got the best of him. A great & special friend, he will be missed, remembered and loved always.
