Betty Goodrich Obituary

In Loving Memory of Betty Goodrich

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Betty Lorrain Malicoat Goodrich, on October 31, 2024, at the age of 87. She passed away peacefully at her Austin home of 65 years.

Betty was born and raised in Austin, TX. Attended many schools all around central Austin, up through Travis High school.

On November 13th, 1955, she married the love of her life, William (Bill) Dewey Goodrich, they had a wonderful marriage of 48 years.

She had one of many jobs, being a wonderful homemaker, worked seasonal at IRS and sold security systems for ADT where she traveled all over her well known Austin city, which she loved meeting and supporting new home owners. She taught oil painting and crafts to her daughter's girl Scouts troop, was a den mother for her son's Cub Scouts and volunteered at school PTA events.

She was know for her years of passion for western music and visiting as many dance halls as possible. As she was no stranger to anyone, therefore she was usually the social coordinator at most of them.

She was very talented and creative with oil painting, crocheting and gardening. And enjoyed roller skating and bowling back in the day.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, whose kindness and strength touched the lives of all who knew her.

Betty Goodrich was predeceased by her loving husband William (Bill) Dewey Goodrich, her parents, Roy Lee & Novella Iva Malicoat, her brother Kenneth Earl Malicoat, and her sweetheart of many years, Roger Beck.

Survived by her sisters Iva Lee Lynch of College Station, Linda Jean Mushinski, of Bryan, TX, and her sister-in-law Ruth Elizabeth Squires of Lebanon, PA.

Her children, Bonny Gail Townsend and son-in-law John Townsend III, Benny Ray Goodrich and daughter-in-law Susan Bueno , Barby Gay O'Neal and son-in-law Ray Marlin O'Neal.

Grand children, Ryan Brandon O'Neal and granddaughter-in-law Gentry Warren O'Neal, Shawn Michael O'Neal, Evan Nathan O'Neal and granddaughter-in-law Juli Retzolk O'Neal, and granddaughter Charisse Dawn Kelly.

Great grandchildren, Brinnley Eryn O'Neal, Chelsea Rae O'Neal, Kinsley Danielle O'Neal, Kayden Cathryne O'Neal and Xander Lawrence O'Neal and countless nieces, nephews and cousins.

She will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her unwavering love, warmth and guidance.

A celebration of life will be held in January, details to be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, in her memory, as she always had the concern and love for children.

May she rest in peace, and may we carry her love in our hearts always.
