Carol Armstrong Obituary

Carol Conn Armstrong
Austin - Carol Conn Armstrong, 89, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Sunday, July 4, 2021. The middle of nine children, she was born April 27, 1932, in Hoxie, Kansas to Hugh L. and Nora Conn. Her family moved to Dripping Springs, Texas when she was 5 years old and soon after made Austin home. Carol had a deep, abiding love for her family and made laughter a part of every gathering.
She graduated from Austin High School in 1950, and married her childhood sweetheart, Carol Jesse Armstrong, in 1951. They grew up within blocks of each other and met as young kids on the playground of Bailey Park.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Carol J. Armstrong, and children, Billy (Gina) Armstrong, Larry (Lisa) Armstrong, Patty (David) Roberts, Jimmy (Denise) Armstrong, and Ronny (Valerie) Armstrong. She cherished every moment spent with her 17 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
Carol was preceded in death by sisters Grace Breed, Betty Reinhard, Lois Parr, Mary Mitchell, brother Richard Conn, and grandson Jason Armstrong. She is survived by sister Emily Conn Skillman of San Antonio, and brothers, Jimmy (Dorothy) Conn of Houston, and Johnny (Debbie) Conn of Sugarland.
Carol was a valued employee of Carl Mayer Jewelers for over 20 years until the downtown store closed in 1985. She then began working for Austin ISD and retired as Lee Elementary school secretary. She demonstrated an abundance of kindness and grace that made everyone she met feel special.
Visitation will be held at Cook Walden Davis Funeral Home, 2900 Williams Drive, Georgetown, on Sunday, July 11, 6-8 pm with funeral services on Monday, July 12, 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Cook Walden Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville.
All children had a special place in Carol's heart. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Patty, I'm sorry for your loss. Mommies are very special.

You and I worked together at THA in the early '70s. Later I worked with your Aunt Mary who shared many stories about the sisters slumber pity parties. Through those stories I got to know your mother.
Condolences to your dad and you and the family.
