Cesar GARCES Obituary
Cesar Garces was born in Cali, Colombia on January 27, 1925 and died in Austin October 18, 2014. He graduated from the University of Texas in 1948 and began a successful career in Urban and Regional Planning in Latin America. He had a private planning firm in Bogota, Colombia and did consulting work for international agencies such as the OAS and UN in Brazil, Costa Rica and Venezuela. He became Director of the CAR a large corporation created for the development of the Sabana of Bogota. Subsequently he formed part of another such project created by the University of Utah in Merida, Venezuela. In 1985 he retired to Austin, TX. He is survived by his wife Jane Smith Garces, daughter Allegra Garces Willis, 3 sons Carlos, David and Pablo and 6 grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by them and by many friends and neighbors. A memorial service will be held in the near future.
