Cory Covert Obituary

"My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever."

Psalms 73:26

Cory Brown Covert passed away on Friday, November 15, 2024 at the age of 43.

Born on April 22, 1981, in Austin, Texas, Cory was the beloved son of Lee Ann and Danay Covert. From a young age, he was known for his adventurous spirit, quick wit, and quiet warmth. His love for sports was central to his life and something he shared deeply with his three brothers: Dan, Kenny, and Chance. As a twin, Cory playfully embraced the title of "the baby of the family," and was affectionately nicknamed "Squeals." He left a lasting impression on everyone he met with his kindness, humor, and all the light he brought to those around him.

Cory's educational journey took him through St. Andrew's Episcopal School, Cedar Creek Elementary, and Hill Country Middle School. He graduated from Westlake High School in 1999, where he was a proud member of the Westlake Chaps Varsity Baseball Team. His talent and heart made him a standout amongst his teammates and friends. Those who knew him in high school recall his unwavering loyalty, easy laughter, and dedication to his passions (dedication to all he was passionate about).

Cory's love for baseball continued through college, where he played for the University of Texas at Austin and Texas State University, graduating in 2004. His time on the field was marked by a fierce commitment to the game and a genuine love for being part of a team.

Cory was a devoted father to six beloved children. He poured his heart into fatherhood, raising his children with love and unwavering commitment. After moving to Dallas, Cory married Bailee Box Covert. As a father, Cory's warmth, humor, and dedication were evident in every aspect of his children's lives, leaving a legacy of love and support that will endure.

Throughout his life, Cory worked hard both personally and professionally, dedicating years to his family's business in Austin. He faced life's challenges with strength and resilience, always inspiring those around him with his grace and determination.

Cory's love and kindness were constants in his relationships as a husband, father, brother, and friend. His humor, warmth, and unwavering devotion left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Cory is preceded in death by his mother, Lee Ann; his cherished guardian angel, Hazie (who passed just two weeks earlier); and his grandparents, Betty and Kenneth Brown, and Rachel and Dan Covert.

He is survived by his wife, Bailee Box Covert; his six precious children and his three stepchildren; his brothers, Dan Covert and wife Hadyn Jobe Covert; Kenny Covert and wife Anna Love Covert; Chance Covert and wife Ashley Brown Covert; his father, Danay Covert and stepmother Judy McIntyre Covert; and his nine nieces and nephews.

Cory's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
