Darrell Iverson Obituary



Darrell John Iverson Darrell John Iverson's patient, loyal, and loving spirit will be missed by all who knew him. He passed away peacefully at age 75 after a valiant 5-year battle with cancer. Darrell was a loving husband, nurturing father, magnificent grandfather, and beloved neighbor. He started life in Grinnell, Iowa, born to Elmer S. and Ada F. Iverson. During the great depression, he grew up a hardworking farm boy raising prize-winning livestock. He became a math wiz in school and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Grinnell College. Darrell was commissioned as an air force officer with the nuclear division of the Strategic Air Command during the Korean conflict. He married the love of his life, Jane Ardyth Densford, in 1956 in Denver, Colorado at Lowry Air Force Base, and began a family soon after. Following his air force service, he obtained a formal education in electronics from the University of Michigan and Stanford University, ultimately obtaining an Engineer's degree and election to the Eta Kappa Nu, Tau Beta Pi, and Sigma Xi honor societies. He spent his career as a hardware and software engineer, project manager, and systems engineer at ESL incorporated in Sunnyvale, California, working on a total of 28 defense projects over 25 years. He retired with his wife Jane to Sedona, Arizona, in 1991, where he taught Algebra and Computers at Yavapai College, in Clarkdale, Arizona. In 1998, Darrell and Jane moved to Austin, Texas. Darrell is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Jane. Their son Jon and his wife Corrina live in Atascadero, California, where he is director of internet services for Primedia's home technology group. Their son Brent, his wife Sheila, and their four daughters Carina, Alexandra, Alanna, and Juliana live in Austin, Texas. Brent is the Warren J. and Viola Mae Raymer Professor of Chemistry and Molecular Biology, and a Distinguished Teaching Professor at the University of Texas at Austin. Darrell and Jane's love and devotion to each other for 50 years is an inspiration and source of strength for their sons and grandchildren. If you wish to honor Darrell Iverson's memory with a gift, please donate to the American Cancer Society and Hospice Austin in Darrell's name. A service celebrating his life will be held at 10:30 a.m., on August 9, 2006, at the Shepherd of the Hills, 5226 West William Cannon Drive, Austin, Texas. Jane, Jon and Brent,



We are all thinking about each of you and hoping you are taking care of yourselves. We are thankful Darrell (your Dad) was surround by all of you during his last days. I'm sure this gave him peace. Thanks for sharing some of his experiences and accomplishments in the obituary. You all must be so proud of his life & legacy.
