David Lindemann Obituary

LINDEMANN, David On the morning of Saturday, October 7, 2017, a good man of God awoke to begin his day as usual - doing his morning exercises in his home of?ce on Gorham Glen. But something unexpected happened - God called David Lindemann to his heavenly home - a place David always knew he would go to when his earthly life was over. It is sweet to consider the loved ones who greeted him as he passed over: his own parents; his brother, Butch; and sister, Patty and his in-laws. "Welcome home, David," they might have said. As word of David's death spread among his family and friends, this thought from Pericles captured many feelings, "What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments but what is woven into the lives of others." David Lindemann wove unconditional love and service into the lives of his family and friends. He prayed without ceasing; he awoke each day to make a good difference for the Lord. And, oh, those grandchildren! How he loved them, enjoyed them and made investments of integrity and grace into each of their souls. A work colleague commented, "I've never known a ?ner or better man or one that I respected more." And one of his son's remarked the day after, "My world feels much more empty without David Lindemann in it today." David Wayne Lindemann was born in Austin, Texas on August 31, 1948, to Edward and O'Tylie Lindemann, the 3rd of 7 children. David is survived by his wife of 27 years, Sharon M. Lindemann. David's beloved children are David Wayne Lindemann, Jr, and wife Jenny of Austin; Julianna Lindemann of Austin and Abby Marie Johnson and husband, Bryan of Austin; Jeff M. Musick of Austin and Jason T. Musick and his wife Michelle of Austin. David was blessed to have 11 grandchildren: Reid, Sloan, Kirsten, Isabella, James, Katie, Madelline, William, Mia, Riley and Spencer. His siblings include Linda and Bob Schaefer of Tomball, Janice and D.A. Swope of P?ugerville, Nancy and Glenn Moon of Euless, Robert Lindemann of Huntsville. He grew up in Bartlett, Texas and went on to graduate from the University of Texas with Honors. His professional life included work at the Veterans Administration from 1971 until his death. David was in the Texas National Guard and the Army reserve. His commitment to the parish of Saint Catherine of Siena, Austin, Texas was an integral part of his life. Good-bye, David. You leave us a legacy of holding dear our time remaining on earth, remembering to speak often of the love we hold for others, sharing the love that the Lord Jesus Christ freely gives to us. "We will never be the same as we were before this loss but are ever so much better for having had something so great to lose." author unknown Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 from 9:00 - 9:30AM at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 4800 Convict Hill Rd., Austin, TX. Rosary will follow at 9:30AM, and Mass at 10:00AM. Burial will be in Machu Cemetery, Granger, TX at 1:00PM. Condolences may be sent to: www.harrellfuneralhomes.com.

Wow David - you really took us by surprise - you are my friend who would ALWAYS be there. I gotta tell you that 'you still are here'; you will always be here - in our hearts and in our thoughts and in the legacy of friendship and love you surrounded us with.
I remember my first green bean casserole at the CALM Christmas dinner; remember all the group lunches? It didn't take much to demand a lunch celebration. The Datavets parties; the happy hours with families invited; the Credit Union meetings - families invited.... I have 43 years of memories to revisit and share......
Our happiness is complete because we know you embraced God and the belief of life ever after.
We love you,
Jeani and John

Nancy, you and your family are in my prayers today. I have to say this has to be the most uplifting tribute to a loved one I have every seen. It speaks volumes to your brother's impact on those he knew and loved. While many are sad and missing him here on earth, heaven rejoices for his homecoming. What a glorious day when we are all reunited with our loved ones who have gone ahead to save a place for us in paradise. Love to you and your family and prayers for comfort found in the happy memories of David.

What I first thought of was, "I'll miss that ever present smile on Sunday's at Mass". Also how proud he was of his grandchildren.

David, I feel confident you are in greater company now but I still will grieve your passing from this earth. I was close to Butch through parts of elementary school, and later found you and a couple of other Czech guys working at VA. I so enjoyed our visits and had it in my mind to ask you for another copy of a prayercard you sent me. It can wait. I will not be able to be there for your services due to health issues but know that my prayers will be with you, my friend. Emil
