David William Parr

David William Parr David William Parr, age 73, passed peacefully on December 2, 2012 after a hard fought battle with leukemia. David was born January 20, 1939 in Midland, TX to Violet Prine and Steven Parr. He was then raised by his stepfather Woodrow "Putch" Scherer with whom he formed an extremely close bond. David served in the Army after graduating from Midland High School and received a degree in electrical engineering from The University of Houston. After discharge from the Army, he reconnected with the girl he couldn't forget and they were married in 1963. They lived in Houston, Dallas, and Little Rock, until they moved to Austin in 1981 where they raised their three children. In Austin he completed a life-long goal and started F.E.U.L.S. Inc., a successful engineering firm, which he enjoyed operating until his passing. He was an avid reader and especially loved history. David also enjoyed watching Longhorn sports, hunting, fishing, golfing, attending his grandchildren's sporting events and spending time with his family. He treasured the family trips to Lake City, Colorado and the annual Christmas gathering. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jo "Jodi" Gwen Parr, daughters Denise Lansford and husband Dan, Susan Pyle and husband Andy, son David "Cody" Parr Jr. and wife Courtney. He leaves his brother Darrell Parr of Albuquerque, New Mexico in addition to eight loving grandchildren, two great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, loving in-laws, and many friends. Memorial services and celebration will be held at 2pm on December 15, 2012, at Northwest Fellowship Church, 13427 Pond Springs Rd, Austin, Texas. In lieu of flowers and customary remembrances, the David Parr Memorial Trust has been setup in order to help offset his medical costs. Donations can be made at any Wells Fargo Bank.
