Doris

Our condolences on your loss.

I remember having tea with you and David some months ago in your lovely home. You were gracious hosts in what you had both turned into a lovely small art gallery and a warm home with great character.

Mrs. Scott, I'm your neighbor whom you welcomed so warmly the day I dropped by unexpectedly to view your new fence. You and Dr. Scott were very kind to me that day. I'll always remember your graciousness. You have my sincere condolences on your loss.

David Scott was one of the finest and best in the Washington art museum world. His contributions and decades of hard work benefited many of the major institutions of this city: The Smithsonian American Art Museum, The Corcoran Gallery of Art, The National Gallery of Art and The Phillips Collection. One of Dr. Scott’s greatest contributions was the year he served as director at the Corcoran which benefited immeasurably from his calm and intelligent leadership at a time of great turmoil and distress. He was a man of integrity, intelligence and great kindness. His courage and leadership are still very much missed. My deepest sympathies go to Doris, Sita, Beta -- to all his family. Curator Emeritus, The Corcoran Gallery of Art
