David Woodland Obituary

David C. Woodland, Jr. David C. Woodland, Jr. passed away while sleeping peacefully on Sunday, August 10, 2008 in Austin, Texas. Born September 10, 1924, Dave went through life with a positive attitude that affected everyone he came into contact with. After graduating from Austin High School, Dave move to Detroit to work as a draftsman for Ford Motor Company and met his bride of 62 years, Barbara Woodland. In the late 1960's Dave started a real estate development company that to this day is successfully owned and operated by his children and grandchildren. Even at 83, he came to the office daily with pride and wisdom that will be truly missed by all. His greatest joy in life was the special relationship he forged with each of his six grandchildren and two and half great-grandchildren. He felt honored to watch each one grow and use God's gifts to follow their own path. Dave served proudly as a deacon at Congress Avenue Baptist Church and was a member of Onion Creek Masonic Lodge. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, David C. Woodland, Sr. and Martha Woodland. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Woodland; brother, Webb Woodland and wife Linda; son, David C. Woodland, III and wife Susan; daughter, Susan Helgren and husband Jim; grandchildren, Emily Anderson and husband Dave, Blair Helgren and wife Dawn, Lily Woodland, Jill Mills and husband Ryan, David C.
