Debby Deiters Obituary

Debby Linnebur Deiters
Debby Linnebur Deiters, of Austin Texas, passed away on March 1, 2021 in the loving arms of her family following a lengthy battle with lung cancer
She is survived by her husband Kevin of 36 years, her son Kelly and daughter Katy, son-in-law Seth White, her father Harold Linnebur and stepmother Jo Linnebur, and her brothers David and William. Her family also included the students she taught, the hundreds of people whom she helped during her role as a moderator on the social media app Nextdoor and the many lost dogs and cats that she reunited with their families.
Debby was an Air-Force brat who was born in Ozona Texas and grew up on bases in Texas, California, Germany, Turkey, and Massachusetts before moving to Austin in 1975. She graduated from Crockett High School and attended Austin Community College. She retired after a career of public service with the Railroad Commission of Texas and the Austin Independent School System.
Debby committed her life in the service of others, and she worked to achieve more unity and compassion in a world seemingly more divided. She raised her babies to be decent human beings and she gave her love to her husband. She developed a tutoring program at Cunningham Elementary School to help those kids that needed a little extra attention to learn to read. She worked diligently as a teacher's assistant to ensure her students had the resources and support necessary to reach their goals. As a Civil Air Patrol and the Texas Search and Rescue (TEXSAR) volunteer, she responded to natural disasters and other emergencies.
Later in her life she found her way to the Nextdoor Community and various Facebook groups where she spent countless hours helping reconnect lost dogs with their humans, getting people resources in their time of need, raising funds for local causes, and helping build a sense of community at a time where it is very easy to feel disconnected. Debby genuinely cared for the homeless and the many others that just needed a little help.
In tribute, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to The Other Ones Foundation (https://toofound.org) to assist the homeless find work or to TRAPRS Trapping, Rescue and Pet Recovery Service (https://traprs.ck.page/cc04c6f4c1) to rescue the most uncatchable lost pets. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

My dear friend Debby, we have known each other since our early 20´s. Our friendship will always be cherished. You are kind, humorous, loving and one of the most caring people I´ve been fortunate to meet and stayed friends with throughout all the years. You will be missed

My deepest sympathies to the family of Debby, and specifically to Kelly, who was my student in 4th grade. She was a caring, involved parent, and also a very caring involved citizen. The world needs more people like her. May she Rest In Peace.

Did not have the pleasure of knowing her but she was apparently a wonderful person. May her memory be a blessing, and may her loved ones find peace with the passing of time.
