Douglas REYNOLDS Obituary

REYNOLDS, Douglas
In many families, there is a
special intensity to the love between a father and his son. This was especially true in the relationship between Douglas Lee Reynolds of Liberty Hill, Texas and the
father he lost to a sudden heart attack when Doug was just eleven. Adding a special poignancy to the relationship they shared, Doug died, under very similar circumstances, on what would have been his father's 107th birthday, on November 5, 2016.
Born in Mitchell, South Dakota, Doug spent his boyhood and early adult years in Minnesota. It was there that he began to develop the many interests that would shape his life going forward. The range and intensity of those passions -- from aviation and photography to landscaping, mechanics, and a devotion to animals -- made an unforgettable mark on those who knew him. He loved the big picture; he embraced all manner of detail. It seemed that there was very little that did not engage his interest, and he loved to talk about it all.
On his 16th birthday, he made local front page news as a young pilot soloing three different kinds of planes on that single day. His ability to see the whole picture -- big and small -- supported early work as a team cameraman for the Minnesota Vikings and as a civilian videographer for the United States Navy.

In his late twenties, he settled in Texas, where he became a loving husband, devoted father, and respected business owner in the Austin area.

In addition to his beloved father, C.P. Reynolds, Doug is also predeceased by his mother. Both his parents played a part in World War II: his father in the US Army in Europe and his mother as a civilian support for the Air Force. Doug is survived by his own son, Charles P. Reynolds and his loving wife, S. Jean Reynolds together with two sisters.
Doug's strong nature and big heart leave a void in the lives of all who loved him so deeply. For those who wish to extend their condolences, a public viewing is scheduled for Friday, November 11th from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral and burial arrangements will be private.

Doug had great stories, a love for dogs and creating amazing outdoor landscapes for homes. He was always available and never charged for offering insights on how to improve my home's landscape.
