I just received the news and to Fr. Foltyn's family, I met Fr. Foltyn when he was at St. Mary's in Waco, Texas in the late 1960s. He and Fr. Jessie were a very young priests at the time. My two young daughters were in Catholic school there at the time. My oldest little daughter was terminally ill, and we had to make frequent trips to Texas Children's Hospital in Houston. Most every visit, we would stop and visit with Father after he was moved from Waco. I am not sure, but I think he was in Wallis, Texas, a place closer to Houston than Waco. When My little Diane passed away, he drove to Waco to con-celebrate the Funeral Mass with Fr. Holtman. I will always remember him with such fond memories and will remember him in my daily prayers. To each of his family, I pray all of you will find peace. Much love for Fr. Foltyn from the Owens/Skidmore families in Waco, Texas

Father Folytn gave me my instructions when I decided to become a Catholic in 1976. On the day I turned 25 I went to my instructions in tears. I was upset that I was getting "old"....He had me laughing, by singing me "The Lord's Prayer". As I remember he couldn't sing very well or maybe it was just the way he sang it that day. He kept in touch with me for about a year after I moved to Germany with my children and husband who was in the Army, because I still had a way to go before I could join the church. I have really good memories of the time he spent with me, guiding me to my calling in our faith.
