Frances Malone Obituary

Frances Ann Malone was born December 15th, 1927 in Washington DC. She was the daughter of a Navy shipbuilder, and along with her brother Robert, who she called Bobby, spent her youth living in ports all around the US. She sponsored a ship named "Catherine" and smashed the champagne on its bow like only Fran could. She had no fear and lived her life with compassion. She had an analytical mind and had a 23 year career in the Navy as a cryptographer working at the Pentagon, and also a 30 year career working at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami as an accountant. She loved watching Wheel of Fortune and made it on the show in the late 1980's; she loved watching the show and solving the puzzles all the way until the last days of her life. She was a people watcher and spent many years at her favorite restaurant, McDonalds, just commenting on the passers-by. She loved cats and fostered dozens of strays that had nowhere to go. She loved to sit in the sun with a cat in her lap just watching the planes float by her apartment in Little Havana in Miami. She had an amazing sense of humor and touched many of the people who were lucky enough to get to know her. She loved the Miami Dolphins and could walk to the stadium season after season. She loved music and nature and was also a staunch supporter of Women's Rights. She will be truly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her three nephews, Shawn, Bruce, and Lee, and her great-nephew Chapman and great-niece Molly. She passed away peacefully on Sunday February 11th, 2024 in Austin Texas and will join her parents in Arlington National Cemetery.
