Hugh HARTMAN Obituary
Hugh Franklin Hartman was born on a farm on the outskirts of San Antonio to William C. Hartman Sr. and Edith Killough Hartman. He had two older brothers, William ("Bill") and Edward ("Buddy"). Hugh was known as "Bucky" to family and hometown friends. Hugh graduated from Kyle H.S. in 1949; from 1950 to 1953 he served in the Marine Corps. Before becoming a Texas State Trooper in 1956, he operated heavy equipment and had a dump truck business. Hugh left DPS in 1958 but returned in 1965, where he retired after 30 years' service in 1993. He served in the Highway Patrol for 15 years and was stationed in Uvalde, Gonzales, New Braunfels, and McAllen, before serving the last half of his career in the Driver's License Division in San Antonio. Hugh was married to his wife Pat for over 58 years. They raised three children; Bobby, Patty, and Steven. He was known as "Opie" to his seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Hugh and Pat traveled throughout the United States and Canada after retirement, mostly in their RV. The memorial service will be held at the Mission Park North Funeral Chapel in San Antonio on February 27 at 10am.
