James Jacobs Obituary

James Howard "Jimmy" Jacobs, 63 of Georgetown, Texas passed away Friday, August 18, 2023.

Jimmy was born October 3, 1959, to Charlsie and Eileen Jacobs in Freeport, Texas, the fifth of seven siblings. The Jacobs family moved to Georgetown in 1969, where Jimmy went on to leave an enduring legacy for his hometown community. He was a 1978 graduate of Georgetown High School and attended Southwest Texas State and Southwestern Universities.

Widely known for his professional accomplishment as a developer and custom home builder across central Texas, Jimmy built multiple successful companies including Jimmy Jacobs Custom Homes and Grand Endeavor Homes. Although he received numerous industry awards and professional recognition throughout his career, Jimmy stayed hands-on in business and preferred to focus on helping others behind the scenes.

Jimmy quietly gave generously wherever he saw a need. His largesse will have an ongoing impact on Georgetown, Williamson County, and many individual lives and families. The Williamson County Children's Advocacy Center, the Locker, and Helping A Hero were among the organizations closest to his heart.

Family was his greatest treasure. Described as the "heart and soul" of his family, Jimmy was a loving and dedicated husband to his wife, Sheila, and loved spending time with his children, Justin and Jenni, and bonus daughters, Erica, Alexandria, and Rebecca. The lights of his life were his grandchildren, and his role as "Papa" brought out the kid in him and brought him immense joy.

Jimmy always made time to enjoy life with his family and friends. He spent time outdoors hunting and fishing; he also enjoyed football, classic cars, and 70s music. He was unapologetically dedicated to common-sense, conservative politics and loved a lively debate.

Jimmy was a principled man of integrity and great faith. His well-worn bible always traveled with him, and he turned to it daily for wisdom, encouragement, and inspiration. His personality was larger-than-life, and as someone who "never met a stranger," he will be remembered for his infectious laugh and sense of humor, his abundant generosity, and his unwavering loyalty. His love of life was evident by the persistent twinkle in his eyes.

Jimmy is survived by his beloved wife Sheila of 11 years; son Justin (Kelsey) Jacobs of Leander; daughter Jenni (Tyler) Richards of Georgetown; bonus daughters Erica (John) Dirba of New Braunfels, Alexandria (Will) Wallendorff of New Braunfels, and Rebecca Ingram of New Braunfels; grandchildren Jolie, Jessa, and Jaxon Jacobs, TJ & Shelby Richards, Emma Georgio, Ellie and Kenna Dirba, Mariah, Natalie, and Serenity Wallendorff; siblings Roger (Vickie) Jacobs, Stephen Jacobs, Johnny (Jamie) Jacobs, Melinda Jacobs; and in-laws Clyde and Kay Woerner.

He was preceded in death by parents Charlsie and Eileen Jacobs, and brothers Warren and Michael Jacobs.
