John Karcher Obituary

John A. Karcher, age 76, went to be with the Lord on November 10, 2003. He was born July 28, 1927, to Albert H. and Mamie Karcher of Giddings, Texas. John graduated from Giddings High School where he was active in sports. He received an honorable discharge from the Navy and graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Business from the University of Houston. He later attended and graduated from Southwest Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth. He was self employed most of his life in Bellaire, Houston, Jasper, Austin and Giddings which supported his Evangelical ministry throughout Texas and countries throughout the world. John was an enthusiastic supporter of Judson High School Sports and Band in his retirement years. John was preceded in death by his mother, father; two brothers and two sisters. Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Karcher; daughters, Kathy Strait and husband, Ron, Judy Harrison and husband, Robert; three granddaughters, Kelly Strait, Emily Strait and Oly Schaefer and husband, Caleb; two great-grandchildren, Naaman and Korey Schaefer; mother-in-law, Bernice Davis; one brother; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 12, 2003, at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 13, 2003, at Harrell Funeral Home in Austin. Interment will follow at Phillips Cemetery in Dripping Springs. Memorial contributions may be made to Calvin E. Namkin Missionary, c/o 1st Baptist Church, P. O. Box 1300, Mission, Texas 78573.
