I met Joe soon after I moved to Smithville in 1978. My family came to rely on him for various projects on our house throughout the years. I could always depend on Joe to show up when he said he would. We became good friends, but lost contact with one another when he moved up north (I think to New York.) He surprised me one day a few years back when he showed up at my house with his wife Mary. I'm sad to know he's gone.
