Kelly KING Obituary

KING, Kelly K.
Kelly K. King (77) of Leander was a U.S. Navy veteran (Seabees), beloved husband, father, and friend to many. He died and went to be with his Savior Jesus Christ on August 6, 2016. The son of James Garfield King and Zenobia Jones King, Kelly was born in King, North Carolina, in 1939. Kelly was preceded in death by his father and mother and his sister, Bonnie Jean King Moore. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Peggy Ann King; their son, Mark King, and his wife, Leticia; daughter, Kelly Kaye Quintero, and her husband, Jesse; his brother, Danny Knight; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. At the time of his death Kelly was surrounded by his family.

Kelly enlisted in the Navy in 1962 and was trained as a construction electrician. His service to our country took him around the world, and he was a proud veteran who honored others with his life and work. He became a successful salesman and later became a skilled antiques repair craftsman and artist. He had a ready joke and a kind word for anyone. He was a dedicated Christian, serving the body of Christ in various ways throughout his life. His lifetime of giving was epitomized by his final gift, his body, to medical research. Kelly was "Simply the Best."

Kelly's memorial service will be held at Austin Baptist Church, at 10:30 a.m., August 13. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Austin Baptist Church's Building Fund.
