M. Connor Obituary



M. Joyce Connor M. Joyce Connor, passed away on October 14, 2006 in Austin, Texas. She was born on May 22, 1922 in Verden, Oklahoma to Glen W. and Ema Peters. She was a proud member of the Kiowa Indian Tribe and spoke the native Kiowa language as an Elder of the tribe. Joyce supported her husband, Thomas while he proudly served his country. They resided in and around the Washington area for many years before retiring in Austin in 1971. In the mid to late 60's Joyce worked with the National Republican Committee in the White House. Joyce was an avid gardener and had an impressive green thumb. She was a very beautiful and gifted needlepoint artist and very much enjoyed sharing her extensive work with family and friends. Joyce enthusiastically worked the crossword puzzles in the newspaper and skillfully enjoyed the challenge. Joyce was an active participant with the Cosmopal Club, where she generously donated her time and efforts in helping the fight against diabetes. She will be most remembered and admired for her wonderful and selfless giving nature to her family members and especially her tireless care of her husband Thomas during his illness. She also took very special care of her mother, Ema during her last days. Joyce was preceded in death by her father, Glen W. Peters; husband, Thomas Connor; and her mother, Ema Peters. Joyce is survived by her daughter, Jil Appleseth; brother, Glen E. Peters and wife, Helen; grandchildren, Amy Joyce Lemmerman and Scott Lemmerman; grandchildren, Ashley Rose Lemmerman and Madison Lemmerman; as well as numerous nieces, one nephew, great nieces and special loved ones and friends. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2006 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in the Davis Chapel of Cook-Walden Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden/ Memorial Hill Cemetery.
