Madeline WERMUTH Obituary

WERMUTH, Madeline M.

Madeline Marie Wermuth, 27, of Austin, TX, died peacefully on January 9th, 2014 from injuries sustained as a passenger in an automobile accident on December 30th, 2013 in Austin. Possessing a gentle spirit, a keen intellect, and a multitude of talents, Madeline will be remembered as a shining light of love and compassion to all who knew her.

She was born on December 5th, 1986 in Memphis, TN. The beloved daughter of her parents, Sherry and Bruce Wermuth of Grapevine, TX, she is also survived by her sister, Heidi Wermuth, of Grapevine, TX, her younger brother, Chris Wermuth, currently in school in Winona, MN, and a host of extended family members.

At 17, she graduated near the top of her class at Colleyville Heritage High School, in Colleyville, TX. Three years later, she earned a BA Degree, Magna Cum Laude, from Lawrence University, in Appleton, Wisconsin. At 20, she began a successful career in college administration, culminating at the University of Texas at Austin. UT at Austin President William Powers called her "a beautiful person" who would be greatly missed, and whose work at UT made a "critical and lasting difference to the many students who benefitted from her assistance."

She was also teaching ESL, piano lessons and had previously tutored low socio-economic students and led book studies. She was also an avid cyclist.

A gifted pianist, sketch artist and crocheter, she selflessly shared with grateful admirers the fruits of her extraordinary talents. Friends spoke universally of her extraordinary kindness. One described her presence as "like a fire on a cold evening; people naturally gathered in her warmth." She was generous beyond measure, always developing new talents so she could share them with others as quickly as possible. Beautiful child of God, an inspiration to everyone who knew her, she will be greatly missed. For more details on her life story, please visit: http://memorial.yourtribute.com/Madeline-Wermuth/
