Randy Rowley Obituary

Family-Placed Obituary

Randy Rowley, One of God's Angels, earned her wings on November 15, 2003, after a long valiant fight with Cancer. Randy was born August 25, 1952, to Edith and Daniel Austerweil in Paterson, New Jersey. She moved to Austin in 1986, leaving behind all of her friends and family to marry her husband of 17 years, Ken. After the birth of their first son, and long before he entered school, she immersed herself in volunteer work. She began at Davis Elementary and ultimately followed both of her children to Murchison Middle School. She worked tirelessly, devoting many long hours doing various jobs in both schools. Always doing what needed to be done on behalf of all the children. Besides her own family serving the needs of the schools was her first love and priority. At both schools she made many friends with remarkable women who have been there for her through thick and thin. These women and their families have provided an immeasurable amount of support for Randy and her family for the past six years. Randy's smile, compassion, energy, love, devotion, and friendship will be deeply missed by all. Randy leaves behind two precious boys, Jamie and Evan; her husband Ken; her amazing sister, Marcy Seymour; a brother, Jeff Austerweil; her oldest and best friend, Sharon Moody; and numerous other friends and relatives. The family wishes to give a special thanks to Hospice Austin, specifically Jean and Cheryl, Dr. Youman and his angel of a nurse, Jessica; to Randy's sister Marcy who tirelessly watched over her for over five months, doing everything in her power to help Randy and the family; to all the people on the Sunshine Committee at Doss Elementary; and to all of the family's friends and neighbors who have devoted a great deal of time and effort to helping them. A memorial service will be conducted on Tuesday November 18, 2003, 3:00 p.m, at Hyde Park Memorial Methodist Church at 40th and Speedway. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Randy's name to Murchison Middle School, 3700 North Hills Dr., Austin, TX 78731, or to Davis Elementary School, 5214 Duval Rd., Austin, TX 78727.

Although I did not get to knowRandy well, I was a parent at Davis Elementary and recall seeing her there often when her children attended school there. She was a very special person. My most sincerest condolences to her husband and children. You have lost a treasure. Our prayers are with you in your time of sorrow.
