Robert "Bob" McGoldrick, age 80, passed peacefully into his heavenly home on October 19, 2023, from complications due to Lewy Body and Alzheimer's Dementias while residing at Arden Courts in Austin, Texas.
Bob was born September 20, 1943, in Queens, New York. He was a resident of Austin since 1977 and was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church. Bob graduated from Manhattan College and NYU with degrees in Electrical Engineering and Business Administration. He volunteered for the US Army during the Vietnam War and served stateside as a Private.
Bob worked at IBM for 35 years. He started out in design in the early days of semiconductor development and later worked as a Project Manager on the Home PC, Big Blue, and OS/2 System Software projects. After retiring from IBM, Bob then served as Coordinator of ACC's High Tech Institute for ten years, during which time he was instrumental in launching their Game Development and Animation program. Throughout his life, Bob enjoyed photography, biking, dancing, backpacking, traveling, and spending time with family. He also loved a good glass of red wine and a box of dark chocolates. Bob dedicated his service to Christ as a Eucharistic Minister, St. Vincent de Paul volunteer, St. Theresa Catalyst Men's Ministry, and Meals on Wheels driver. He exemplified his favorite Bible verse, Micah 6:8, in all that he did.
Bob loved his Lord Jesus Christ, and he will be remembered as a loving, supportive, and devoted husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend.
Visitation and Rosary is Sunday, October 29, from 6-8PM at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 5416 Parkcrest Drive. Mass of the Resurrection is Monday, October 30, 10AM at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 4311 Small Drive, with Fr. Barry Cuba officiating. Reception will follow in the parish hall.
Bob is survived by his wife, Lynn McGoldrick; his son Bobby McGoldrick (Becky), daughter Carrie Zaboroski (Ray); stepdaughter Suzanne McMinn (Brian); stepdaughter Caroline (Scott) Gorman; and grandchildren Kathleen, Elizabeth, and Matthew McGoldrick; Frank and Jack Zaboroski; James and Jude Skaer, and Ruth McMinn; and Abigail, Emily, Russell, Teddy, Joseph, and Natalie Gorman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ann and Harold McGoldrick; his siblings, Bill and Maureen; and his first wife, Fran McGoldrick, mother of Bobby and Carrie.
The family wishes to give special thanks to the members of St. Theresa Catholic Church; Austin Christian Fellowship Church; Vera Hernandez, at-home caregiver; staff and caregivers at Arden Courts; and all those who prayed for and visited Bob.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Theresa Catholic Church, Meals on Wheels of Central Texas, Lewy Body Dementia Association, Austin Christian Fellowship (memo: Prayer Ministry).
