Sam Attra Obituary

Sam Attra Happy Birthday, Sam Attra! Today would have been your 90th birthday. Sam Attra, "Uncle Sam", a long time Austin resident, passed away on November 9, 2010 at the age of 89. Sam is survived by his brother, Jim Attra, of Austin. He also leaves behind many nephews and nieces and great nephews and nieces. Sam served in the Army and was a War World II veteran receiving six bronze stars. After the Army, he returned to Austin where he worked as a manager for Calcasieu Lumber Company for 30 years. Uncle Sam was loved by his family and many friends. Uncle Sam never met a stranger. With his kindness and outgoing personality, he always enjoyed meeting new people and making new friends. He lived an independent and active life. He enjoyed exercising at the Gus Garcia Senior Center and the many friends he made there. He was a great cook and baker. His Lebanese dishes were always a hit during the holiday season. Uncle Sam will be greatly missed. We will always cherish his memory and the good times he brought to all. We love you, Uncle Sam and Happy Birthday! The Attra family.

All my life I was always use to seeing you at grandma and grandpas. Sitting next to you every morning or lunch. Your laugh was the strongest memory and your happy go lucky spirit. There hasn't been a day I don't think about the last words I spoke to you. Never thinking saying bye meant good bye. Ill miss you and your seat will always carry memories. Love Eva
