Vicki Eells Obituary

Vicki Elizabeth Eells Vicki Eells of Austin, Texas, passed away on Monday, April 4, 2011. She was 83. Vicki was born Virginia Elizabeth Rosas in Westwood, California, on February 6, 1928, the middle of nine children. She was a dark-haired beauty whose smile caught the eye of everyone she met, no one more so than the handsome young Air Force pilot she married in 1954. Life as a military wife was exciting but challenging, and Vicki handled it with grace, from hosting parties for other officers and their families to shepherding her four young children through many adventures in the United States, Libya and Europe. Wherever she went, Vicki was a beloved part of the community. She was outgoing and gregarious, with a quick sense of humor and a love of conversation, whether it be with a co-worker at Austin Community College, where she worked for 10 years, or fellow parishioners at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, where she was a founding member. In her spare time she enjoyed dancing, traveling, bowling, and bridge, but her favorite pastime was golf. Vicki was an excellent golfer, who won championships at three different clubs on two continents, as well as a longtime member of Austin's Lost Creek Country Club, where she was known for her stylish outfits and expert short game. Vicki's warmth, generosity, and vivacious spirit will be missed by everyone who knew her. Vicki is survived by her husband of 56 years, Albert Eells; and their children and grandchildren, their son Steve, his wife, Karen, and their son, Josh; their son Mark and his son, Christopher; their son Al, his wife, Teresa, and their children Emily, Jon, and Sam; and their daughter Suzanne and her husband, Jeff Browner. She is also survived by her siblings Jess, Lucy, Ramiro, Gloria, and Ray, and by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Victoria Rosas, and by her siblings David, Helen, and Mary. Vicki's family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Stonebridge Health Center in Austin for their love and support during her stay. A private interment will take place at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Vicki's name to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011, or online at alz.org.

Dear Uncle Al & Family,
We wanted you to know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and all your family at this sad time. Your love and devotion to Aunt Vicki was beautiful.
This obituary is a wonderful celebration of Aunt Vicki's life and who she was. And although we haven't had the opportunity to see you for a number of years, we have many fond memories of you coming to our wedding and your visits to the Jersey shore to visit.
