William Knarr Obituary

William "Bill" Knarr William "Bill" Knarr passed away on June 29, 2011 after a courageous battle against esophageal cancer. He was born in Parsons, Kansas on September 21, 1939 to Guy A. Knarr and Lorna (Ellis) Knarr. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Patricia Ann (Hughes) Knarr, son, Stuart A. Knarr and wife Michal Knarr, daughter- in-law, Jacque Knarr, along with his sister Delores Lacey, his in-laws, Edith, Debbie and Susie Hughes, a host of nieces and nephews, and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and son, Guy Alfred Knarr II. Bill graduated from Parsons High School and Kansas State College. He spent his entire working life in the insurance claims profession where he built and maintained a reputation for honesty, fairness, loyalty and integrity. Bill was a past Master Councilor in the Demolay organization, and an active member of the Masons, Scottish Rite, York Rite, Shriners, and the Royal Order of Jesters. Bill was always ready to travel and participate in the various realms in the pursuit of mirth and fun in these organizations where he met several lifelong friends. Bill loved family, "green", playing golf and walking his spoiled and beloved schnauzers. Bill's unique sense of humor, razor wit, intelligence, and work ethic endeared him to all that knew him. Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather, friend and co-worker and will be greatly missed by all. The family will receive friends 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, July 1, 2011, at Harrell Funeral Chapel, 100 Heritage Dr., Austin, TX. The family wishes to thank all the Doctors, Nurses, and Caregivers that assisted in his final journey. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity or organization of the donor's choice.
