July 8, 1947 - April 4, 2015
Eugene L. Scott, 67, went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, April 4, 2015. "Gene" was born on July 8, 1947 in Wagner, South Dakota. Gene's family eventually moved to Woodburn, OR where he graduated from Woodburn High School in 1965. He went on to graduate from what is now called Chemeketa Community College. He joined the Army and served his country honorably. While stationed at Ft. Lewis, WA he met his lifetime love, Renee. They were married 45 years and had two sons, Anthony and Ryan.
After many years of working for the City of Salem, he retired in 2012. Though his retirement years were short, they were filled with relaxation, joy, church, and most importantly, his grandchildren's activities.
He is survived by his wife Renee Scott; his sons Anthony (Tami) Scott of Salem and their children Brayden, Lauren and Lucas and Ryan (Susi) Scott of Hamburg, Germany and their children Joshua and Abby; his three sisters, Bernitta Noeske of Keizer, Juanita Simon of Tempe, AZ and Milly Rollins of Wilsonville; and his two brothers, Chuck (Marci) Scott of Oregon City and Mike Scott of Wood Village.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Salem First Baptist Church's Community Life Center, 395 Marion St. NE, Salem, OR on Saturday, April 11 at 3:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in memory of Gene to the Salem First Baptist Building Fund. Assisting the family is Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service.
