Joyce Gubser Obituary

SALEM - Joyce Arlene Gubser passed away on April 28, 2008, after a lengthy illness.  Born to Theodore and Gracia Kuenzi on August 31, 1932, she grew up in the Central Howell area and then graduated from North Salem High School.  She was a Salem resident for most of her life.  She retired from the Chemeketa Community College bookstore, where she worked in accounting.Joyce was an avid game player, Scrabble and Yahtzee were two of her favorites.  She loved to quilt and read, and she started everyday with the crossword puzzle and the "Jumble" in the Statesman.  Joyce was known for her fried chicken, her potato salad, and her chocolate chip cookies.  Joyce is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, James and Patricia Kuenzi of Keizer; son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Colleen Carson of Salem; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Tom Kimber of Brea, Calif.; and daughter, Sandy Fliesbach of Eugene.  She also leaves three grandsons, Benjamin Carson, Michael Carson, and Thomas Kimber; and her closest friends, Marilyn Faville and Rita and Arnie Bielmeier.Visitation will be held from 12 to 8 p.m. on Wed., April 30 and the funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Fri., May 2.  Both will be held at Howell-Edwards-Doerksen.  Private interment services will follow at Belcrest Memorial Park in Salem.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Howell-Edwards-Doerksen with Rigdon-Ransom Funeral Directors, Salem.
