Matthew Neely Obituary

HOBBS, N.M. - Matt was born on March 21, 1960 in Freeport, Illinois to Philip and Sally Andrews Neely. He passed away on March 25, 2006 near Hobbs at the age of 46.Matt attended Jefferson, Oregon schools where he was District Wrestling Champion his last two years of High School.  Matt enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps on July 10, 1978 and was chosen Honor Graduate of his occupational training course.   While in the Marine Corps he received The Good Conduct Medal.  He was Honorably discharged as a Sergeant on July 12, 1982.  Matt was employed as Division Manager of Tuboscope of Hobbs, NM at the time of his death.  Matt married Leslie Christine Esquibel on January 19, 2001 in Hobbs, New Mexico.  Survivors include his wife Leslie, son Brad and daughter Brittany of Hobbs, his mother Sally Neely and sister Jill Neely, both of Salem, Oregon and a sister Lois Neely of Corvallis, Oregon.  He was preceded in death by his father, Philip Neely.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to trust accounts at Bank of America for his children, Brad and Brittany.Visitation will be held from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and a Rosary will be held at 6 p.m. on Fri, March 31, 2006 at May Funeral Home, 501 N. Linam, in Hobbs, N.M.  A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m., on Sat., April 1, 2006 at St. Helena’s Catholic Church, 100 E. Bender.  Fr. Dennis Fountain will officiate. Interment will follow at Prairie Haven Memorial Park with Military Honors.  Fr. Dennis Fountain and Rev. Benny Greenlee will officiate. Arrangements by May Funeral Home.
