To mr. Botham's family my condolences. We can gain a lot of comfort by looking to the words at John 6:40. I hope you will also find comfort in them. Be... O r e

It can be so hard to face the first year without your loved one, but the love of family and friends can carry you through.

Astrid, we met once at a Stanford's restaurant in Portland where we had dinner wit Craig Walker (Kozak), Bod Selander and Jim Gardner. We had a fun evening. I think we were Rex's favorites at the Army Reserve Unit and he was certainly our favorite Sergeant. When I came to Salem to go to law school from Alaska I had 60 days to get into a reserve unit and I went to Rex and he told me the unit I really belonged in was down the street so I went to that one and another and they said they were full. I went back to Rex and he told me they can't turn you down so right then and there I decided I wanted to join his unit because of his honesty. I would go back to Alaska in the summer to work and he helped get through the paper work you had to do every year to leave one unit to get in another and do it all in reverse in the fall. we had lots of laughs in the outfit. I went on to become a Marion County judge and every time I ran into him somewhere he always said it was like putting a fox in the henhouse. I think you even had some lawn signs in your yard at election time.
I'm sure you will miss him but you two had many years together. My condolences.
