Roy Fear Obituary

Roy H. Fear

June 9, 1929 - July 26, 2012

SALEM - Born in Seattle to Howard and and Bernice Fear. Roy served in the Air Force during the Korean conflict. Upon discharge from the Air Force he lived in Portland where he met and married Mavis Roberts. They were devoted to their children, Laura Archer (Bob), Michael (Jennifer), and Daniel (Danielle) until her passing in 1978. His brother, Gerry, lives in Washington. Roy owned Roy Fear Company in Portland which dealt with sales and service of industrial generators. Upon retirement he moved to Harstine Island in Washington where he was active in the antique business. In 2006 he and Kate VanWinckel married and moved to Salem. He became stepdad to her two daughters, LeeAnn and Jennifer. Roy had a lifelong interest in cars and enjoyed carpentry, and repairing anything at hand. He was an avid reader, enjoyed music and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, children, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. His family was at his side through his last days.

A service is planned at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon. Arrangements are by Farnstrom Mortuary of Independence, Oregon.
