Susan Elizabeth Craig was born December 21st, 1965 in Portland, Oregon to Barbara Johnson. She grew up with siblings Virginia, Bret, Brian, and Jerred and will be fondly remembered as an influential mother figure to her siblings.
She was educated in the Silver Falls School District of Silverton, Oregon and was a freshman at Silverton High School when she met a young man named Dean Craig. The fateful meeting would change her life. The two began dating and as the saying goes, "The rest is history."
On July 16th, 1982 Susan Johnson married Dean Craig and on November 11th, 1981 the two welcomed their first of five children. This was the beginning of a lifelong devotion to motherhood and love story between Susan and her husband, that inspired all who knew the Craig family.
Susan and Dean were blessed with 33 years of love, commitment, and family memories. Susan's loyalty and support for her family was unmatched and unwavering.
Susan was also committed to and was very involved in her faith community at St. Mary's Catholic Church. She was the owner and operator of a well-known local flower watering business and was a familiar face around Silverton and Mt. Angel. In the summer months she was out every day making sure the town's flower baskets stayed beautiful and could be counted on to give directions should anyone need to know the way around town.
Susan leaves behind a close-knit family that will forever be grateful for her influence and inspiration in their lives: Her beloved husband and love of her life Dean Craig; her loving children Michael (Esther), Nick (Becky), Elizabeth (Brandon), Josh, and Jake (Chelsea); and finally grandchildren Sawyer, Amelia, Tripp, and Josephine.
All are welcome to attend Susan's funeral which will be Friday, December 26th, 2014 at 11:00AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mt. Angel, Oregon.

What a shock to learn that my friend Susan has passed away, after googling her name in hopes of seeing a recent picture. Although I had not seen her since she moved from Salem in the '80s I had never forgotten her. Such a kind, beautiful soul. She was only 19 when I met her. Her sweet, playful personality is what I remember about her the most. Some people you just never can forget. Mere words cannot express my sadness. RIP Susan, never to be forgotten. God bless you & your family.

Dear Susan, I am deeply saddened to hear of your passing. Although I was only a part of your family for a few short years, you always treated me as though I was just that-- a part of your family. I was 18-- bright-eyed and brand new to the adult world, 3,000 miles away from everything I had ever known-- when we first came to know of one another; however, you made me feel far less alone. You had a family of your own to raise, but that didn't stop you from celebrating my birthday each year, listening to me when I was hurting, guiding me, and laughing with me time and time again. What amazes me most is you did all of these things without my asking you to. In fact, that is what made you YOU—you went above and beyond in all things. You loved fiercely. You stood up for those who couldn't defend themselves. You were ambitious. You thought of ways to make the lives of those around you better and asked for nothing in return. In two and a half years, both you and Dean taught me many lessons I still carry with me today. Thank you for that. May you rest peacefully knowing you left the world a better place than you found it. <3

The last time I saw Susan was so special...we shared some hugs and swapped stories about raising boys as we are both moms of four sons...She had an amazing compassionate heart! Will miss seeing her at soup suppers!

We love you guys! Susan was such an amazing woman and her legacy will live on through all of you =). Her funeral was beautiful and it was so great to see how many people's lives she touched (plus many more who were unable to attend). Take care.

Dean and Susan, my wife and I, and many of our friends got married in the same few years. Sadly, our two marriages from that group were the only two to remain all these years later. Now yours is sure to endure forever, just as we who knew you, knew it would! You leave a lot of friends here Susan, but you have lit a clear path which may be followed to one day reunite in Glory!
