John Coleman Obituary

John Coleman, Sr. STATESVILLE John Edward Coleman Sr., 78, died unexpectedly Friday, May 11, 2012, at Iredell Memorial Hospital. He was born on Nov. 28, 1933 to the late Dennis and Evelyn McDermott Coleman. Mr. Coleman attended Syracuse City Schools and Stanley Community College. He served his country honorably in the Korean and Vietnam Wars and retired from the Air Force as a Master Sgt. After retirement, he worked for several security firms. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church of Albemarle. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Scott Coleman. Mr. Coleman is survived by his loving spouse, Marjorie. He is also survived by four sons, John Coleman, Jr., of Fayetteville, Matt Coleman, of Va., Tommy Perkins and Todd Coleman, both of Statesville; two daughters, Colleen Landon, of Texas, and Bridgette Foster, of Fayetteville; seventeen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, at Oakwood Cemetery with full military honors. Nicholson Funeral Home is serving the family of Mr. Coleman.
