Johnny Pierce

Johnny Roger Pierce, 61, of Beaumont Birch Street, North Wilkesboro, died Sunday, Oct. 3, 2010 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m today at Liberty Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. David Sparks and Benny Romans officiating. Entombment will be in Mountlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Mr. Pierce was born May 7, 1949 in Wilkes County to Johnny and Myrtle Walker Pierce. He was a truck driver for Gardner Mirror for 25 years, receiving numerous safe driving awards. Mr. Pierce was a member of Roaring River Baptist Church. He graduated from East Wilkes High School and from Forsyth Technical College in Winston-Salem. He worked in the Boy Scouts of America. He was preceded in death by a son, Shawn Mitchell Pierce and his father, Johnny Pierce. He is survived by: his mother, Myrtle Walker of North Wilkesboro; one sister, Joy Lisa Proffit and husband, Ted of Statesville; one brother, Tim Pierce and wife, Debbie of North Wilkesboro; three nieces, one nephew and one great-niece.
