Johnny Pierce Obituary

Johnny Roger Pierce, 61, of Beaumont Birch Street, North Wilkesboro, died Sunday, Oct. 3, 2010 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m today at Liberty Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. David Sparks and Benny Romans officiating. Entombment will be in Mountlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Mr. Pierce was born May 7, 1949 in Wilkes County to Johnny and Myrtle Walker Pierce. He was a truck driver for Gardner Mirror for 25 years, receiving numerous safe driving awards. Mr. Pierce was a member of Roaring River Baptist Church. He graduated from East Wilkes High School and from Forsyth Technical College in Winston-Salem. He worked in the Boy Scouts of America. He was preceded in death by a son, Shawn Mitchell Pierce and his father, Johnny Pierce. He is survived by: his mother, Myrtle Walker of North Wilkesboro; one sister, Joy Lisa Proffit and husband, Ted of Statesville; one brother, Tim Pierce and wife, Debbie of North Wilkesboro; three nieces, one nephew and one great-niece. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Kidney Foundation, 6110 Executive Blvd., Suite 1010, Rockville, MD 20852. Online condolences may be made at www.reinssturdivant.com
