Diana Joseph Obituary

Diana Mariotti Joseph of St. Augustine, Florida, lost her battle to ALS on Oct. 28, 2015. Born in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania, on June 2, 1947, Diana was a friend to all. Her humor, generosity and love for everyone was evident in the many friendships Diana made over the years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nello and Ruth Mariotti; brothers, Freddi and Louis; niece, Tara; and parents-in-law, Andrew and Evon Joseph.
Diana is survived by her loving husband, Philip, who was with her every step of the way in her courageous fight against this devastating disease. They share a love like no other. She is also survived by her brothers, David (Teresa) Mariotti and Neil (Janice) Mariotti, both of St Augustine. She was loved by her stepchildren, Christie (Rob) Devane and Julius Thomas II; grandchildren, Matt, Kyle, Trey and Joy; first great-grandchild, Finn; sister-in-law, Debra Joseph, of Virginia Beach, Virginia; nephews, David (Kelly) Mariotti, Lance (Dawn) Mariotti and Louis Mariotti; and many great-nieces and nephews, cousins and friends everywhere.
Diana graduated from Orange Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1968 and began her nursing career as an Army 1st Lieutenant in a M.A.S.H unit in Italy. Her career continued in Winter Haven, Florida. Diana then moved to St. Augustine, where her nursing assignments included those at Flagler Hospital, the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind, private physicians' practices, and work with the elderly, her last position being with Dr. Michael Sanders.
The family would like to thank Community Hospice of St. Augustine, her caregiver Nanette Sowersby and many friends and neighbors who were always there for both Diana and Phil. Their kindness meant the world to Diana.
A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Sunday with a prayer service starting at 5:30 p.m. at Craig Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Anastasia Catholic Church. Memorial and Interment services will be held in the Monongahela Cemetery in Pennsylvania. Schrock-Hogan Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in honor of Diana to the ALS Association of Florida Chapter:3242 Parkside Center Circle, Tampa, FL 33619.
Craig Funeral Home, Memorial Park and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements (www.craigfuneralhome.com).

I am so saddened to be hearing about this now. I took care of Diana's mother, Ruth and then Diana while I was in nursing school. She always made me smile and gave me advice about nursing. She is one of the reasons that I am where I am today, an RN of nearly 2 years. I'll miss you.

Phil and family,
They don't come any better than Diana. She touched the lives of all who knew her. Her smile, her warm personality, her grace, we are all better off for having her touched our lives.

She has a high place in heaven, no doubt about it. Remember her when she was well and the happy times, Phil and family. Death is hard on the living, but we are Christians and she is at peace and in the Lords loving arms. I hope you will be comforted by God's love for you and the beautiful and happy memories you have of lovely Diana.

You are all in my prayers. God bless you. Jane
