Gerald McKenna Obituary
Funeral services will be held 9 a.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at St. Anastasia Catholic Church.
Prayer services will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at St. Johns Family Funeral Home, with visitation continuing until 7 p.m.
Flowers are gratefully declined and those wishing may make a contribution in his memory to Community Hospice of NE Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Anne Marie McKenna, St. Augustine; children, Kerri Ann Harvey (Billo), St. Augustine, Gerald McKenna, Jacksonville, Patrick McKenna, Lake Oswego, Oregon; sisters, Sandra Paolucci, Mahopac, New York, Sharon Porzio, Mount Vernon, New York; grandchildren, Robert, William and Mark Harvey and Charlie McKenna.
He was preceded in death by a son, Keith McKenna; his parents, Hubert and Nora McKenna; three brothers, Hubert, Philip and Francis; and three sisters, Norah, Arlene and Kathleen.
St. Johns Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Chicky is a man who left a lasting impression on me and my daughter, Jordan. His sharp wit, sarcastic humor, and loving heart always brought a smile to my face. Every time I think of him, he still brings a smile to my face. When Jordan was young Anne Marie use to help me with watching Jordan often while I worked. Many times it was Chicky there with her. He had a way with Jordan from the first time she met him, a natural affection. She would always come home with stories of Chicky this & Chicky that. He was a loved & cherished friend. We will always be thankful for being blessed to have him in our lives & we will forever remember him with a smile & love in our hearts. Our prayers are covering Anne Marie and the family during this heartbreaking time.

Chicky was one of a kind, and while I have not seen him in many, many years, I will miss him. In our brief time getting to know one another in the late 70's and early 80's, I considered him to be like a really cool older brother. I know that he kept me out of trouble at times, and he treated me like family. I also know that I was not alone. He seemed to have so many people that wanted to visit with him and socialize with him. He had some kind of warmth that attracted people and generated friendships.
At almost 54, I've crossed a lot of paths with people. But Chicky is on a short list of those that had a lasting impact on me. God Bless. Rest In Peace.
