I knew Dr. Carberry as the dean of Flagler College way back in the late '70s and early '80s. That was the first time I was away from my parents, and I saw him as a man who stood in for my dad while I was in college. He was about the same age as my dad, Catholic, gentle in his disposition, funny, loving, family man... All of these qualities were so needed for a young person out on her own for the first time. His wife was dear to me also, as one of my teachers at Flagler.
Dr. Carberry was a treasure and had a reassuring and profoundly positive influence on my life.
My deepest condolences to his family and may God bless you all.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth Harris (Millard)

Barbara, Karen, and family, I´m so very sorry for your loss. I remember first meeting Mr Carberry while he was helping Karen put up book cases and hooks in her new classroom at Webster. I knew right away how special he was . Mr Carberry always had a smile on his face and had a kind soul. I really enjoyed walking with him at the Relay For Life event every year. He was dedicated to walking with Karen and our team members and we always wanted to be there when he walked so we could walk with him too. I have so many fond memories of him that I will keep close to my heart. Please know that all of you are in my thoughts and prayers and may the love of friends and family carry you through your grief. Take care. Debbie Custer
