John Edward "Big John" Golubinski, Sr., 70, of St. Augustine, died unexpectedly on Dec. 19, 2012, at his residence.
John was born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y., and served in the U.S. Air Force, as an aircraft mechanic. He went on to work as a machinist for Ideal Manufacturing in Brooklyn and relocated with the company to St. Augustine in 1986 where he worked as a manager until his retirement in 2009. He enjoyed spending time with his family during his retirement years. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather, and he will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Eileen Golubinski of St. Augustine; a son, John Edward Golubinski Jr. of Flagler Estates; daughters, Aretha Ann Taylor of St. Augustine and Ann-Marie Santamarina-Higado of Forest Hills, N.Y.; and grandsons, David and Joshua Daniel, both of Orlando, Fla.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, at St. Johns Family Funeral Home, with the Rev. Craig Eby officiating. A visitation, beginning at 1 p.m., will precede the service. Interment with military honors will take place at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 24, 2012, at Jacksonville National Cemetery.
