Kenneth Kight Obituary

Kenneth Sherman Kight, age 60, of St. Augustine, passed away unexpectedly on July 29, 2016, at Flagler Hospital. Kenny was born in St. Augustine to Wallace and Margie Kight on March 29, 1956. He graduated from St. Augustine High School with the Class of 1973. On Dec. 4, 1981, he married Janet Faye Miller in St. Augustine. For most of his life, Kenny worked as a farmer. He was very accomplished, and had become the one that everyone looked to fix what was broken. He enjoyed fishing in his free time. He was a longtime member of Riverdale United Methodist Church. Kenny was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, with a good heart toward all who knew him, and he will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Faye Kight; son, Shawn Kight; daughters, Tina Ahearn, Penny Burris, Michelle Garren and Windy Hayes; brother, Robert Kight (Linda); 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at St. Johns Family Funeral Home, with the Rev. Greg Grant officiating. A visitation, beginning at 5 p.m., will precede the service. There will also be a memorial and the scattering of his ashes at Riverdale Park at 3 p.m. on Aug. 13.
St. Johns Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

I met Dad (Kenny) when I was 14 years old shortly after I was befriended by his daughter Tina. Him and Momma Janet have always treated me like family. If I was ever asked what was one thing I learned from him I would have to say that he taught me that life is what you put in it and if you want something bad enough to be persistent. He was always encouraging me to never give up! Dad you will be missed by all that knew you! Love and prayers to all the family!

This man was a kind, caring, understanding, loving man. When I was young, he put himself as the father figure in my life when I needed it. I always said I needed to go and spend time with him. Always made excuses not to. I so wish I could change that. I could talk to him about anything. Going miss you very much!!! Now you can go fishing ALL the time. Until we meet again, rest in peace. I love you Uncle Kenny!!!!
