Lois Seamons Partin, 86, of St. Augustine, peacefully joined her Lord on April 18, 2017. Born April 8, 1931, to Thomas Bryant and Emma Miller Seamons of Warren County, Tennessee, Lois was one of the five beautiful "Seamons girls." Raised in Tennessee until her early teens, the family relocated to St. Augustine in 1947, where Lois attended Ketterlinus High School. In 1951, she went to work as a telephone operator for Southern Bell, where she worked for more than 30 years. Lois married George H. Partin in 1951, and they made their home in St. Augustine Beach. They owned and operated Partin's Furniture on St. George Street for many years. Possessing a strong work ethic, Lois worked nights at Southern Bell and weekends at the furniture store. Lois quickly became an astute businesswoman, and Partin's Furniture developed into the largest carpet and furniture business in the St. Augustine area for over 30 years.
Lois truly enjoyed giving, as was evidenced by her philanthropic lifestyle. She supported numerous Christian charities but was especially fond of charities benefitting children and youth. Lois supported many children over the years through World Vision. Lois also felt that it was important to support her local community and supported St. Gerard House, Florida Sheriff's Youth Ranch and Rodeheaver Boys Ranch. In the 1970s, Lois and George were actively involved in freemasonry through Ashlar Lodge #98, where she was appointed Eastern Star Worthy Matron. Lois enjoyed these social and fundraising engagements supporting the Shriner's Hospital for Burned Children. Lois also enjoyed volunteering as a "pink lady" with the Flagler Hospital Auxiliary.
Although Lois was quite passionate about giving and helping others, her greatest joy was spending quality time with family. Lois believed in making memories and moments count. She considered her brother-in-laws brothers, and her nieces and nephews were her children. Sisters, brothers, nieces, and nephews have many fond memories of beaches, banana pudding, sleepovers, dancing, laughing and loving with Lois. Lois was a great unintentional teacher.
The many who knew and adored Lois would say that her greatest aptitude was love. Lois loved deeply, as was evident in all of her interactions with others. Many could attest that her love was unconditional and accompanied by extravagant forgiveness. Lois truly lived I Corinthians 13:4 - love is patient and kind.
Lois had a very strong faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, living her life accordingly. She was a longtime member of Anastasia Baptist Church. Jesus looked good on Lois!
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George; and her youngest sister, Patricia Seamons Hughes. She is survived by her sisters, Mary Lorena Cobb, of Houston, Texas, Louise Seamons Whitlock, of McMinnville, Tennessee, and Tommie Seamons Coleman (Ralph), of St. Augustine; brother-in-law, Henry "Bud" Hughes, of St. Augustine; nephews, Bill T. Whitlock (Patricia), of Clarksville, Tennessee, George O'Neal III (Joe Martinez), of Houston, and Jerry W. O'Neal (Jenifer), of Greenville, South Carolina; nieces, Debra L. Coleman, of St. Petersburg, Claudia A. Coleman, of Boynton Beach, Nancy A. Lewis (Brandt), of Alachua, and Justina H. Burt (David), of Tallahassee; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday at St. Johns Family Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ron Moore officiating. Interment will follow at Craig Memorial Park. A visitation will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at St. Johns Family Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to St. Gerard Campus, P.O.
