Betty Jo Boggs Obituary
Betty was born in 1940 in Fairfield, Virginia and was a faithful homemaker, wife and mother, daughter, sister, and Pastor?s wife for 45 years. She was a talented seamstress, pianist, Girl Scout Leader, cared for foster children, worked with the mentally and physically disabled, as well as many other children and youth in the community. She served her Lord and Church faithfully. Betty enjoyed entertaining, cooking, and baking for her family and community for many gatherings.
She is survived by her husband, Billy Joe Boggs of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, her five children, Pamela Boggs Stewart and husband Mike of Atlanta, Georgia, Susan Boggs Carpenter of Costa Mesa, California, Mark Boggs and wife Clara of Troutville, Virginia, Kimberly Falkenberry and husband, Meadows of Columbus, Georgia and Karin Boggs Kirby of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; seven grandsons, Jacob Carpenter and wife, Stacey of Winchester, Virginia, Zachary Carpenter and Melissa of Abingdon, Virginia, Justin Stewart of Covina, California, Joshua Stewart of Carnesville, Georgia, Jonathan Boggs of Troutville, Virginia, Zachary Hart and wife, Britain of Bedford, Virginia and Scott Huettner of Columbus, Georgia and one granddaughter, Jaimie Huettner of Columbus, Georgia; three sisters, Judi Dowell of Elkton, Virginia, Cecilia Hughett of Winston-Salem, North Carolina and Barbara Hensley of Elkton, Virginia and one brother, Steven Robinson of Elkton, Virginia. She is also survived by six great grandchildren, Bailey and Raegan Carpenter, Isaiah and Caleb Carpenter, and Payton and Paris Hart.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, Carrington Henderson and Bessie Catherine Alt Robinson and her sister, Patricia Robinson Coyner, all of Staunton, Virginia.
Services will be held Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Oakey?s East Chapel, 5188 Cloverdale Road, Roanoke. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM with the service following at 2 PM in Oakey?s Chapel. Interment Old Dominion Memorial Garden. Dr. Mike Stewart, her son-in-law will officiate. We would like to send our condolences to each one of you for the passing of a great Godly lady, Betty Boggs. She has left a great legacy for all of us and our memories of her will never be forgotten. Sister Boggs was a lady that we all could look up to. She was such an encourager and a friend to all those she met. I know that she will be greatly missed but Heaven has gained an Angel. You all are in our prayers.

It is with profound sadness that I extend my condolences to each one of you. I will always remember Betty as a woman of great character who carried herself with dignity and grace. Her faithfulness, kindness, love of god and family leave a great legacy for all of us to emulate. I know that it is well with her soul and we can take great comfort in that fact.

When I think of Betty Jo, my cousin, the oldest of Aunt Cathy and Uncle Dick's kids, I see her as a glowingly smiling person. I wish all of the family great sympathy, especially Judi, Ceci, Barbara, and Steven.
