Bob McClintock, 95, passed away in his sleep June 5, 2011, after a brief illness at Flagler Hospital. Bob was born in Chicago, Ill., and had a long, busy career, touching many lives. He was a retired accountant, and was active in state and local politics, having served several terms on the boards of the Anastasia Mosquito Control District and St. Augustine Airport Authority.
He was appointed by two different Florida governors to the Council for the Hearing Impaired and was the first deaf person elected to public office in Florida. He was an active member of the American Legion, the Disabled American Veterans, the Lions Club, and the Florida Association for the Deaf and Telecommunications for the Deaf. He was instrumental in obtaining lower-cost telephone services for Florida"s hearing impaired. Bob had lived in St. Augustine since 1977 and was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Estelle McClintock.
Bob is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Lu Palma, and nephews Robert Palma, Malcolm McGregor and John McClintock. Donations may be made in Bob"s memory to the Foundation Fund of the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind. No services are planned.

"Uncle Bob" was also a great influence and inspiration to his three neices, Nancy, Gail, and Ellen who enjoyed his sense of humor and twinkling eyes as well. At 86 years old, he traveled west to northern Washington state to visit his niece and family, flying out and back on his own. He will be missed in our lives.

Bob or Lion Bob as we called him. He was a fine man who devoted his time to living a life of service. He put alot of energy and time into whatever he did. The Lions are greatly saddended to have lost this member and friend. Just 2 days before he passed we presented the Robert McClintock scholarship to a deserving deaf student at the school for the deaf. He will be missed. May we all have a chance to live as fulfilled a life as he did.

Bob was a good friend for over thirty years, first at Trinity Parish, St. Augustine, and then at Reconciliation Episcopal Church, St. Augustine.
Bob was a compassionate leader.
He was an inspiration to everyone who knew him.
