Ruth Drago Obituary

Ruth Ann Drago, Jan. 29, 1929-Nov. 9, 2013
Ruthie left this world on Nov. 9, 2013, peacefully while at Haven Hospice surrounded and supported by her family. Family was what life was all about for Ruthie. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Ruthie was an exceptionally strong, fun-loving and independent person who was most notable for her warm and generous nature. Ruthie was born in Biddeford, Maine, in 1929 to Irene and Elmer Burrill. She married her husband Russell in 1950, and she loved and supported him through 47 years of marriage. He preceded her in death in December 1997. They had four children.
Ruthie loved being a mother and taught her children many life lessons, but especially instilled the values of caring, nurturing and always putting your family first.
Ruthie is survived by all of her children, Patti and her husband Jay Kouba, Steve and his wife Dyana Drago, Paul and his wife Darlene Drago, and Robert and his wife Jennifer Drago.
Ruthie loved being a grandmother even more. As a grandmother, she taught the value of an education. On that issue, there was no compromise. She supported, encouraged and took great joy in the accomplishments of her eight grandchildren. She is survived by Stacie and Olivia Drago, Stephi and Nick Drago, Melissa, Sydney, Trystian and Benjamin Drago.
She loved life and leaves a legacy that was built by inspiring the lives of everyone she met. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
A celebration of her life will be held 3 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Westarea, 823 NW 143rd St. with Dr. Don McGarity, officiating. In lieu of flowers, please donate in Ruthie's name to Haven Hospice or one of her two favorite charities, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund or the American Heart Association.

Aunt Ruth was our favorite. She was such a dear, fun, smart and loving. I grew up loving to see her. Over the years we visited her and Uncle Russ with our family. Our kids just loved the both of them. We had the pleasure of having her at our house several times in recent years. We treasure those times greatly! We will miss her!!
