Thomas Joseph Ponce Sr., 65, Jacksonville, Fla., died May 19, 2009, at Earl B. Hadlow Center for Caring. He was a native and lifelong resident of Duval and St. Johns counties. He was a plumber and a member of Church of Christ.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Craig Funeral Home Chapel, 1475 Old Dixie Highway, St. Augustine, Fla. Visitation will be held 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Craig Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Sampson Cemetery, St. Johns County. Flowers are gratefully declined; those wishing may make a contribution in his memory to Community Hospice North East, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Johns Ponce, Jacksonville, Fla.; daughter, Margaret "Peggy" Ponce; sons, Thomas "Bubba" (Luci) Ponce, William "Billy" (Tracy) Ponce, James "Jimmy" (Selina) Ponce; stepdaughter, Angela (Fritz) Smith and stepson, Alan (Debbie) Parker; brothers, Robert (Patsy) Ponce and Dayrl (Margo) Ponce; sister-in-law, Debbie Johns; 16 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by son, Timothy Ponce, brothers, Edward and Frank (Buster) Ponce and sister, Shirley A. Vogel.
Craig Funeral Home Crematory Memorial Park is in charge of the arrangements.
