William DeVoe

1915 - 2004

William DeVoe, 89, of St. Augustine, died July 29, 2004, at Moultrie Creek Nursing and Rehab Center. He was born in Charlton, N.Y., and had resided in St. Augustine since 1955. He was retired from Marineland of Florida. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II. He was a member of China Burma India.

Memorial services will be held today at 7 p.m. at Craig Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 p.m. until the time of services. Flowers are gratefully declined. Those wishing may make a contribution in his memory to Community Hospice or St. Johns County Council on Aging.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne, and his son, Billy DeVoe.

He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Ann Marie DeVoe, of St. Augustine; two sisters, Inez Simmons, of Clifton Park, N.Y., and Frieda Holloway, of Jonesville, N.Y.; four grandchildren, Jennifer Ott, Jessica Augustine, Jamie DeVoe and Tina Stratton; 12 great-grandchildren.

Craig Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
