James Echols Obituary

James Lee Echols, 81, of Ragland, Alabama, passed away on March 5, 2025. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Mr. Echols was a cherished member of Fairview Baptist Church. He touched the lives of many with his kindness and unwavering love for his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Willie Echols, and his brother, R.W. Echols.
Left to honor his memory are his beloved wife of 60 years, Jo Ann Isbell Echols; his children, Lorie Campbell, Clyde Echols (Debbie), Lisa Maples (John), and Kim Oliver (Tim); his grandchildren, Adam (Carrie), Justin (Kendra), Colton (Sadie), Caleb (Tiffany), Ariel, Carley (Tyler), Madison (Alex), and Makenley (Travis); and his great-grandchildren, Marley, Cassie Mae, Addie, Owen, Tatum, Hadley, Bryleigh, and Blaklie. He is also survived by his sister, Octavia Watson, and his special buddies, Vincent Phillips and Kenneth Tipton. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 7, 2025, from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Usrey Funeral Home – Pell City. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with John Maples and Adam Campbell officiating. Interment will take place at Macedonia Baptist Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Mr. Echols' grandsons and sons-in-law. Condolences may be offered online at www.usreyfuneralhome.com. Usrey Funeral Home – Pell City is in charge of arrangements.
