There are no words to express our sorrow over the loss of Michael - a wonderful life gone much too soon. There will be a huge void for so many with his passing and we pray for comfort and send much love to friends and family.

Michael Brantley was one of the kindest people our family has ever known, and one of the best drummers in Shreveport. He had a calm demeanor, with a smile that calmed the heart. You’ll be missed, Brantley.

To know Michael Brantley was to love him. He was a kind spirit, who loved to laugh, and lived to have others laugh with him. Quick witted humorist, who could turn the oddest of moments into a joyful laughter fest. Anybody that knows a drummer knows that there is an unwritten law, that you don’t let amateurs sit at your kit, and try to play. That wasn’t Michael, he would always offer me the chance to play his drums. That is the type of guy Michael was, and I always loved him for it. A fierce defender of his friends, and a referee, when needed. I will miss the joy, laughter, and the camaraderie that Michael brought into my life the most. Love You, Brother! RIP Michael P-Funk Brantley.

The best drummer and friendliest soul I’ve ever met. Mike was so talented and above all, humble. Make some great music up there my friend.

Michael’s vivacious personality was larger than life. He had a soft, kind heart and a rare gentleness. Through his eyes, you could see and feel the genuineness of his smile and zest for life. He was a creative, genius comedian, and his comedic timing was as on-point as his rhythm on his beloved drums. He was an important part of my life, my family, and my music for many years. In many, many ways, we grew up together. He adored my family, and they adored him. Michael loved his mama, and the natural spark in his eyes twinkled a bit brighter when he was talking about her. He was a proud and loving dad to Kaden, and he was a proud baby brother to Laurie, Brian, and Jan, who he would speak of with sincere admiration. I can only imagine the reunion that took place in Heaven when he was greeted by his dad. There will never be another Michael Brantley, and the world will never be the same for all who knew him.
Fly high, rest in love and peace, and keep time for the Heavenly Angel band.
